Since Trey is at Grandma's (we're leaving for skiing tomorrow), Madison and I had a girls' day out. From earlier posts, you can tell she is kind of into The Wizard of Oz. Well, Liberal, KS is about 1 hour from us and that is where Dorothy's house is. They also have The Land of Oz. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Maddi really wanted to go so we headed out this morning. We got there and it was so much better than I expected. We toured Dorothy's house and then entered the Land of Oz. I was picturing a museum type place with memorabilia and some statues. Completely opposite. We walked in and it was a guided tour through all the different scenes in the movie. First, the wicked old lady was riding her bike with Toto in the basket, then the professors wagon was next and there was even a moving tornado on the wall. Next was Dorothy's room where she got knocked on the head and then we entered Munchkinland. We then went on to find the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion. We saw the Wicked Witch of the Wests' castle and they even had Dorothy melting her. From there we entered the Emerald City and had the wash up room, then the long hall to the wizard. Finally they had the hot air balloon to take Dorothy home and then Glenda the Good Witch came and told Dorothy she just needed to tap her shoes and say "There's no place like home." Needless to say, Maddi was completely mesmerized by the whole tour. She wanted to go back through. I've posted lots of pictures. They don't really do the place justice, but it was wonderful and we had a great time.
